ASEAN Online Sale Day 2026: ASEAN Member States Promote Cross-Border E-Commerce

 08-02-2026

ASEAN Online Sale Day (AOSD) 2026 is being implemented by ASEAN Member States through a wide range of activities aimed at promoting cross-border e-commerce, supporting businesses—particularly micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)—in expanding their markets, and strengthening connections with consumers across the region. From an online shopping campaign, AOSD is gradually evolving into a practical cooperation initiative to develop the ASEAN e-commerce ecosystem.

The Philippines, as ASEAN Chair in 2026 and host of AOSD 2026, is focusing on creating a safe, transparent and enabling environment for online transactions. Participating businesses are screened and verified to help prevent counterfeit products, fraud and other forms of commercial misconduct, while mechanisms for online consumer support, complaint handling and data protection are being strengthened. The Philippines is also working with major platforms such as Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop, as well as payment and logistics partners, to provide promotions and facilitate cross-border delivery and payments. Particular attention is being given to MSMEs through online registration, training and digital technical assistance.

In Indonesia, AOSD 2026 focuses on bringing MSMEs, traditional craft communities and small producers onto major e-commerce platforms, while promoting distinctive products such as Batik, coffee, processed agricultural products and Halal-certified goods. Promoting cross-border payments through interconnected QR payment systems is also seen as an important measure to facilitate online transactions.

Singapore is leveraging its strengths in technology, logistics and digital infrastructure to facilitate the movement of goods across borders, while promoting B2B and B2C e-commerce through vouchers, shipping incentives and measures to strengthen transaction security and consumer protection.

Meanwhile, Thailand is focusing on promoting high-quality products, OTOP products, agricultural goods, food products, herbal cosmetics and handicrafts, while combining e-commerce promotion with tourism and service offerings. Webinars and online training programmes are also being conducted to enhance businesses’ digital marketing capabilities and online export readiness.

Malaysia has adopted a comprehensive approach by bringing together government agencies, e-commerce platforms, logistics providers, digital payment companies, technology firms and business associations. MATRADE has organised webinars and training activities on cross-border e-commerce, digital marketing, logistics and payments, while supporting businesses in promoting and selling their products through regional platforms.

These activities demonstrate that AOSD 2026 is being implemented in a practical, diverse and business-oriented manner. By combining trade promotion, digital capacity building, payments, logistics and consumer protection, AOSD is helping ASEAN businesses, particularly MSMEs, move from domestic markets into regional markets, thereby contributing to a more connected, inclusive and dynamic ASEAN e-commerce ecosystem.
