Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn has delivered pre-recorded remarks for the ASEAN Online Sale Day (AOSD) 2026, highlighting the importance of building a safe, secure and trusted digital commerce environment across the region.
In his remarks, Dr. Kao emphasized that ensuring the safety, security and transparency of digital commerce is essential to building a trusted digital ecosystem that businesses and consumers across Southeast Asia can rely on. Such an environment is critical to strengthening confidence in online transactions and supporting the continued growth of the region’s digital economy.
The ASEAN Secretary-General also underscored the role of initiatives such as AOSD in promoting cross-border e-commerce and creating greater opportunities for businesses, particularly by helping local enterprises expand their reach and connect with consumers in other ASEAN Member States.
